Governor Profiles

Penny Steward

Chair of Governors

I am very pleased and proud to be Chair of Governors at Kinsale Infant School. After more than 30 years teaching in Norwich and Norfolk I retired as headteacher of a small rural infant school in December 2013. However, I remained interested and passionate about education so applied to governor services to become a governor at a school. As soon as I met Miss Robinson and looked around Kinsale Infant School I knew it was the school I wanted to be involved with. I was impressed with the exciting, lively curriculum, the high expectations and standards in both learning and behaviour and the bright and stimulating learning areas. I hope I can use my experience and enthusiasm to help further develop this super little school.

I have three grown up daughters and two grandchildren that I visit frequently in London. I enjoy gardening, swimming, dog walking with my husband and visiting art exhibitions.

Andrew Alder

I have been asked to join the governing body, and having moved into Hellesdon in 2014 I am pleased to be able to offer something of value back to the local community. Having previously served as governor, chair of finance and then chair of governors at a large rural primary school and seen them through a major period of change becoming a church sponsored academy, I feel I may have insights which may be of benefit in the future through these ever changing times in the education world.

I am married with 2 grown up children, my daughter now herself a special education teacher in Norfolk, and my wife is the vicar in Hellesdon. My own background is in finance having worked for 25 years in various senior roles within the Lloyds banking group until 2002, when my wife was ordained and so I became a ‘house husband’ The washing machine still baffles me!

Anna Caley

I have two children at Kinsale Infant School and a step-son who is in the sixth form at Hellesdon High School. I live in Hellesdon and enjoy being part of the local community.

My background is working with vulnerable children and young people and I have a particular interest around safeguarding.

I am pleased to have the opportunity, as a Governor, to support this fantastic school and to help it to continue to go from strength to strength.

Debbie Cletheroe

I have been a Teaching Assistant at Kinsale Infant School since 2008, and was a parent helper two years previously to that. My own son, who is now eighteen, attended Kinsale and had a very positive experience. I love living and working within the Hellesdon community. I am proud to be part of such a good teaching team who are passionate about helping children achieve their full potential in an enjoyable, safe learning environment.

Emma Godwin

I have taught at Kinsale Infant School since 2009 and feel privileged to be a part of the journey that the school has been on throughout that time. I have developed many positive relationships with the families that attend the school and, having grown up locally, I have good knowledge of the area and the families that we serve. During my time at Kinsale Infant School, I have taught across all three year groups and have had numerous roles alongside my teaching position, such as SENCo, Healthy Schools Coordinator, subject lead in art and DT, and P.E. and Sports Coordinator. I am passionate about the children receiving the best possible outcomes for them and their families and work hard to make this happen. As a member of the school Governing Body, I embrace the opportunity to be able to support to further drive the development and improvement of our school.

As a parent, I was impressed from day one by the skills, experience and friendly attitude of all the staff at Kinsale Infant School which enable them to offer so many excellent opportunities to the children. I am delighted to be part of the Governance team helping the school to grow and succeed.

My professional background is in events, marketing and membership development. I am currently a social media manager working with several small businesses and social enterprises.

Lisa Hazard

Deputy Head teacher

I have been deputy head at Kinsale Infant School since September 2014. I previously lived and worked in Greenwich, South East London, where I grew up. My husband and I decided to relocate to Norwich so that our two young boys can grow up in a nicer environment, near to the country and the sea. So far, it seems to have been an excellent decision!

As staff governor I am a member of the Finance, Premises and Personnel committee and attend all full governors meetings.

Marc Lillystone

I joined the Governors in October 2020.  I have one daughter in Reception and 2 older children who have recently moved on to the junior school, so I’ve been a parent at Kinsale Infant School for the last 5 years.

I’m a specialist nurse in the NHS and also an assistant pastor of Gateway Vineyard church in Norwich. Both these roles offer experience and skills that I hope will support the school leadership team to keep building a stronger and continually improving school community.

James Collins

Growing up in Hellesdon, I attended Kinsale School, followed by Hellesdon High School and Sixth Form. So I feel I have a specific interest and genuine passion for the local area and schools.

I am currently the Trading Director of a local, medium sized retail business. I travel extensively within the UK, throughout Europe and also the Far East with my team, sourcing products for our store group.

As Trading Director my responsibilities include managing budgets, leading teams across all areas of trade, e commerce and social media and also working alongside senior employees across all key sectors of the business to drive the strategic direction.

As a father of a pupil who attends Kinsale Infant School, I know first hand how much the children enjoy, develop and excel within a wonderfully nurturing environment.

I am really excited to be joining the governing body, and I’m hoping that my commercial experience can support the school in continuing to offer pupils and staff an enjoyable learning environment in which they can thrive.

Sayo Ayodele

I moved to Norwich in 2018 and opted to be a governor in Kinsale school in 2019; bringing my 4 years’ experience as a secondary school governor in Newham borough of London where I grew up.

I am passionate about education and happy to be a governor in a school thriving and ambitious. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling with my husband and spending time with my two-year-old son.

I have a background in chemical and process engineering and currently work in the oil and gas industry in Norfolk.
