PE and Sport

PE Vision

Our Vision at Kinsale Infant is to ensure all children have an enjoyable and positive experience of Physical Education and Sport and start their journey on becoming physically literate.

We aim to achieve this by:

  • Providing children with the opportunity to develop their ABC’s (Agility, Balance, Co-ordination)
  • Providing children with the opportunity to become confident, competent and healthy movers
  • Improve fitness, health and well-being
  • Allow children to fulfil their potential
  • Taking part in PE makes our ABC’s better. PE is important as it helps to make us healthy and confident movers

School Teams

In Autumn 2014 we introduced our school teams. All of the children and adults have been put into a team. The teams and captains are;

  • Brilliant Blueberries – Blue team
  • Terrific Tomatoes – Red team
  • Perfect Peppers – Yellow team
  • Amazing Apples – Green team

The school teams are predominately for sport events; however they can be used for all curriculum events, e.g. book week/ themed activities.

Each team has two team captains (Yr 2 boy and Yr 2 girl). The captains are involved in the intra competitions set up and are invited to school council meetings that discuss team events.

  • Autumn  – Whole School Cross Country

  • Autumn – Virtual Tri Golf

Sports Premium

From September 2013, the Government will allocate funding directly to schools in order to support the provision and quality of PE and sport. Each Primary school will receive £8000 plus an additional £5 per pupil each year for the next 2 years.

Schools are responsible for allocating spending in order to maximise impact for their children. We will measure the impact regularly and report this evaluation to Governors and on our website.
